About PrTMS®

Understanding PrTMS® Therapy - A Personalized, Customized Form of TMS

PrTMS is a personalized, non-invasive brain therapy that utilizes magnetic pulses to enhance brain function and mental well-being. PrTMS® targets disrupted brainwaves using advanced technology that is tracked weekly to restore focus, clarity, and balance.

  • Medication-free
  • Virtually no side effects

Now in Miami

Ultimate Brain Health proudly brings Dr. Murphy’s expertise and innovative PrTMS protocols to Miami, offering the only PrTMS treatment center in the area.

Personalized repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation

A therapy designed to treat the source, rather than just the symptoms

Irregular brain patterns are believed by some medical professionals to be the underlying cause of many mental health symptoms and conditions. However, millions of Americans with diagnosed mental and physical health challenges related to brain function are subject to therapies that provide symptom management only, with limited options to treat the root cause of their conditions.

PrTMS® is an innovative therapeutic approach that is designed to:

  • Correct brainwave disruptions
  • Personalize TMS delivery for each patient
  • Customize an approach based on analysis of data
  • All for the creation of a neuromodulation plan tailored to each patient that is verified and approved by a qualified PrTMS provider

Customized Therapy for optimal results

What makes PrTMS® different from TMS?

Personalized repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (PrTMS®) is TMS – but with a smarter, more sophisticated approach. Unlike conventional TMS which is one-size-fits-all, PrTMS utilizes a proprietary, patent-pending protocol to develop personalized treatment plans that customize the TMS therapy delivered to each patient – which may help patients achieve optimal results. PrTMS may be successful in treating a variety of brain health conditions.

PrTMS® has been used in patients with a wide variety of conditions, including those that may not have responded to medication in the past. Talk to our team to see if PrTMS® is right for you.

Can I drive myself to and from PrTMS treatments?

Yes. You are awake and sitting in a comfortable chair similar to a dental chair.

TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) and PrTMS (Personalized Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) are both non-invasive brain stimulation treatments used for depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other neurological conditions.

TMS delivers magnetic pulses to stimulate specific brain regions (usually the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex) using standardized protocols. Treatment settings—such as coil position, frequency (e.g., 10 Hz), and intensity—are generally the same for all patients with a given condition.

PrTMS is an advanced, customized version of TMS. It begins with a qEEG (quantitative EEG) brainwave mapping to detect abnormal patterns in brain activity. Based on this data, stimulation parameters—coil placement, frequency, and intensity—are personalized for each patient. Protocols are reviewed and adjusted weekly, ensuring the treatment adapts to changes in the patient’s brain over time.

TMS should be avoided by individuals with implanted metallic or electronic devices in or near the head (e.g., cochlear implants, aneurysm clips, pacemakers), those with uncontrolled seizures, or certain brain injuries. Pregnant women and people with severe anxiety around magnetic stimulation should consult their doctor before treatment.

PrTMS therapy (Personalized Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) is a non-invasive, drug-free brain stimulation method designed to optimize brainwave activity. It begins with a qEEG brain map to detect irregular neural patterns, followed by a customized magnetic stimulation plan targeting specific brain regions. Unlike standard TMS, PrTMS is continuously adjusted through weekly qEEG readings, ensuring the treatment evolves with the patient’s progress. It is used for depression, anxiety, PTSD, concussion recovery, sleep disorders, ADHD, and cognitive enhancement. By fine-tuning brainwave rhythms, PrTMS helps improve mood, focus, and mental performance—essentially “retraining” the brain to function more efficiently.

Yes, TMS therapy is often covered by insurance in the U.S. for FDA-approved conditions like major depressive disorder, provided other treatments have failed. Coverage depends on the insurer, medical necessity, and documentation. Patients should check specific policy requirements before starting treatment to avoid unexpected out-of-pocket expenses.

TMS uses magnetic pulses to stimulate targeted brain regions, especially those involved in mood regulation. This activation helps reset neural pathways, improve communication between brain cells, and enhance neurotransmitter activity, ultimately reducing symptoms of depression, anxiety, and other neurological or psychiatric conditions over time.

Signs that TMS is working include improved mood, reduced anxiety, better focus, enhanced sleep quality, and increased daily motivation. Some people notice subtle changes within 2–4 weeks, such as enjoying activities again or feeling less emotionally overwhelmed, which gradually build into more consistent mental and emotional well-being.

TMS does not change your core personality. Instead, it can help reduce symptoms of depression or anxiety, allowing your natural traits to emerge more fully. Many patients feel more like themselves—happier, calmer, and more engaged—without altering their fundamental character, values, or identity.

TMS has a success rate of about 60–70% for treatment-resistant depression, with around 30–50% achieving full remission. Effectiveness varies by condition and patient profile, but many experience significant symptom improvement, especially when combined with therapy or lifestyle changes, making it a promising option for those unresponsive to medication.

TMS has an average success rate of 50–60% for major depression, meaning about 40–50% of patients may not experience significant improvement. Failure rates can vary depending on condition severity, treatment adherence, and individual brain response, highlighting the need for alternative or combined therapies if TMS alone is ineffective.

TMS can be more effective than antidepressants for patients with treatment-resistant depression, offering improvement without systemic side effects. While antidepressants work for many, TMS benefits those who don't respond to medication, with longer-lasting relief in some cases. Effectiveness varies by individual, and combining both approaches may enhance results.

Yes. You are awake and sitting in a comfortable, reclining chair.

Yes. Absolutely, there is no downtime, and you can resume regular activities immediately.

Typically, there are minimal to no side effects. Some people report a slight headache at the treatment area which quickly subsides.

Yes. In certain cases such as MDD, anxiety and OCD. Some providers require one to two antidepressants to have been tried.

Yes. It is safe for all ages and FDA-approved for adolescents and adults.

TMS and PrTMS Comparison

Technology

TMS: Uses magnetic pulses to stimulate specific brain regions.

PrTMS: Uses the same technology but adds EEG brain mapping for personalization.

Treatment Protocol

TMS: Follows standard FDA-approved protocols for frequency, intensity, and target area.

PrTMS: Adjusts settings based on individual brainwave patterns and progress over time.

Applications

TMS: Primarily for depression, OCD, and certain neurological conditions.

PrTMS: Broader scope, potentially addressing anxiety, sleep issues, PTSD, and cognitive performance.

FDA Status

TMS: FDA-approved for specific conditions.

PrTMS: Core TMS device is FDA-cleared, but the personalization method is off-label.
